100 Thieves released Hunter “BabyJ” Schline and Adam “ec1s” Eccles in one of the fastest roster changes in VALORANT history on Monday.

After getting 13-0’d by The Guard in the second week of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 1 Challengers main event, 100 Thieves quickly removed their two newest players from the roster. The team that had failed to qualify for Champions and made a run at Masters: Berlin sought out European talent at the start of 2022, but nothing was clicking.

100 Thieves lost badly to Cloud9 and failed to overcome The Guard during week two to go 0-2. If 100 Thieves wanted to make it out of groups and attempt to qualify for Masters 1, they would have to win their remaining three matches. There would be less than a week to find new replacements before their upcoming match against Luminosity, but 100 Thieves fans wouldn’t have to wait that long. Mere minutes after the announcement was made that Babyj and ec1s would be leaving the team, 100 Thieves announced their replacements.

The new replacements for the team came in the form of former TSM player Sean “bang” Bezerra as well as former Immortals superstar Noah “jcStani” Smith. Both players attempted to make it to VCT Stage 1 Challengers with their respective teams, but neither could close the gap. Instead, they would be invited to the main stage of the event under 100 Thieves on loan from those teams. 100 Thieves CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag voiced his opinions on the current state of the VALORANT roster after the team’s disappointing loss to The Guard on Sunday.

“That performance was absolutely unacceptable from us,” said Nadeshot on Twitter. “Not much else to say, just can’t happen. Period.”

Less than 24 hours after making that tweet, 100 Thieves had gotten rid of the two players they had picked up during the off-season. While many fans were calling for a change within the team, no one could have predicted that both of the newest members would be replaced after two weeks of play.
