DreamHack Melbourne is almost upon us. In less than two weeks, some of the best esports talent in the world will descend on Melbourne & Olympic Parks in Australia. DreamHack is one of the biggest esports festivals in the world; it features esports tournaments for everyone from amateurs to global pro teams. Plenty of activities are available for fans too. DreamHack Melbourne is on September 2-4 and the full schedule has been revealed.
What’s on
DreamHack Melbourne has announced the full schedule with tons of activities and events. Live music will be happening each night as well. Melbourne & Olympic Parks will be transformed into a gaming hub. These parks have played host to global events such as the Australian Open tennis Championships and more recently the Melbourne Esports Open and Intel Extreme Masters. CS:GO, fighting game communities, and Halo will feature at all three days in the famous tennis arenas. Friday will include a students day with talks on working in esports, becoming a content creator, and online safety. These panels and talks will continue into Saturday and Sunday held in the Auditorium. Some of the topics include will cosplaying, and how to work in the esports industry. Expo booths are also showcasing on the weekend with lots of prizes, competitions, and hands on gaming.
The Mainstage is the hub for DreamHack Melbourne. Here, there will be lots of giveaways, the opening ceremony, panels, and more. On Friday and Saturday night, at the conclusion of games, the mainstage will transform into a music festival. This year’s headliner is DJ Paris Lawrence, an Australian hip-hop DJ who’s “eagerly awaiting the return of gaming events to connect with the gaming community”. She, along with other DJs, will be entertaining gamers throughout the night.
Grab your ticket
If you’re not super into watching the esports, you can always grab a ticket for the famous Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) LAN parties. The BYOC ticket includes access to all the zones for DreamHack Melbourne. Tickets for the festival are still available. Doors open at 9am AEST each day. ESL hasn’t made any official announcements, but you can probably bet the esports competitions will be live streamed on ESL Twitch’s various channels.
