Lyon, France, will host a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate major of historic proportions this weekend. With 1,024 players registered for the Singles bracket, Colossel 2022 will be the second-biggest Ultimate tournament of the year and the biggest French Smash tournament of all time.
In addition, the French major will be a gold stop for the Smash World Tour. Here’s everything viewers need to know before top players from around the world compete at Colossel this weekend.
Players to watch
Alongside a plethora of top European players, Colossel 2022 will feature a handful of Mexico’s finest, including Leonardo “MkLeo” López Pérez, Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís and Santiago “Chag” Pérez Checchi. In addition, David “LeoN” Leon will represent the United States. There will even be several of the best players from the Middle East at this event.
Despite the deep field of international talent, local star Arda “Raflow” Imrek has an excellent shot at making a deep run. To reach winners finals, the 17-year-old French Palutena main will likely have to go through Maister and William “Glutonny” Belaid, both of whom he defeated at 95 King of Fields 2 last weekend. As a result, Raflow may be poised to repeat his second-place finish from that event at Colossel.

However, before he can get to Maister of Glutonny, Raflow will have to go through English prodigy Oliver “Bloom4Eva” Alexander. While he has been dominant at events in his own region, Colossel 2022 will mark Bloom4Eva’s first major tournament outside of the United Kingdom. Thus, this event will test whether the Bayonetta main can maintain his high-level results in an unfamiliar environment.
How to watch Colossel 2022
The Colossel 2022 broadcast will take place across four Twitch streams in four different languages: Solary in French, VGBootCamp in English, Mystic Squad in Spanish and East Geek Smash in Japanese.
Pools of the Singles bracket will begin at 4 a.m. ET on Saturday and will continue until noon. Afterward, there will be a World Cup Crew Battle. This single-elimination side bracket will pit teams of three from 16 different regions against each other.

Singles top 128 will start at 4 a.m. on Sunday, with top 32 kicking off at 7 a.m. The bracket will then conclude with top eight, which is scheduled to run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
