After PAX Australia spent the past few years as an online only event, the annual expo is bringing the best of both worlds together for 2022. Not only will fans be able to tune in online from around the world, but those who wish to return to Melbourne, Australia in person.
Ahead of the event, regardless of how you may be attending, here’s everything to know about PAX Aus 2022.
Getting there, or tuning in
Badges for PAX Aus went on sale earlier this year in March. The popular 3-day badges are already completely sold out, with some individual days still available — though these are almost sold out, too. If you’re thinking of attending in person at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, you’d better get in before tickets sell out. Head over to the registration page to grab yours now.
If you can’t travel all the way to Australia, you won’t miss the show. PAX Australia will be live streaming on Twitch. There are plenty of panels worth on content, with five dedicated live streams. There’s the main PAX Aus channel, two streams dedicated to streaming panel and talk content, another for the “official PAX Presents channel,” and a channel entirely for esports competitions. Merchandise
Last week, PAX Aus released their 2022 merchandise range and, for the first time ever, PAX Aus is giving fans the opportunity to pre-purchase their merchandise. The goal is to ship orders in August so fans can be ready for the live event in October. This also means fans around the world can buy shop their favorite items and have them delivered directly. Merchandise will also be available to purchase from the venue.

Panel talks and Esports events
The schedule for panel talks and esports events is coming soon. Panel submissions are currently open, so if you have something to talk about, you can apply to be part of the PAX Aus action. At this time, panel submissions are only being accepted for those who can be in attendance in person. Submissions close on July 26.
The PAX Arena is hosted at PAX Aus in partnership with ESL, making the event also a showcase for esports, too. While the schedule and types of esports events haven’t been announced yet, previous PAX Arenas have hosted the World of Tanks ANZ PL, Clash Royale competitions, Rainbow Six Siege Oceanic Nationals and many others.
Indie Showcase
The Indie showcase highlights the best talent from the ANZ industry. This year, ten developers (six digital and four table top) will be selected to showoff their game to the rest of the through through PAX. Submissions are currently open for the showcase.
It’s a great opportunity for fans attending in person to try the most innovative and create new games from the Australian and New Zealand industry. If you decide to attend in person, be sure to play these games at the Indie showcase.
Expo Hall
One of the reasons many fans come to PAX Aus is for the expo hall. The past few years have taken this aspect away from those attending in person. The expo hall is a space where gamers can play the latest games, catch up with their friends, meet their heroes, participate in competitions and, of course, receive swag. However, fans tuning in online are expected to be treated again to the virtual expo hall. Here, fans will play games, participate in competitions and try the latest and greatest from the game industry.
