With many players reaching Tier 3 gear, Lost Ark developer Smilegate announced the release of Abyss Raids on Wednesday. This end game content will drop later in March, according to a blog post.

Abyss Raids are the beginning of the end game content for Lost Ark and can be troublesome even for players that found high-end Abyss Dungeons easy. To make sure that you are prepared for the upcoming content, here are some answers to frequently asked questions that will explain how Abyss Raids work.

Argos Lost Ark Boss
In order to take down Argos, you’ll have to use all the tools at your disposal. | Provided by Smilegate
1. How many players participate in a single raid?

Unlike the typical four-man party system employed for past PvE content, Abyss Raids require players to form two parties of four.

2. What are the requirements to participate in the upcoming Abyss Raid?

There are three separate Gear Score requirements for the three separate phases of Argos. The first phase requires a Gear Score of 1370. The second phase requires a Gear Score of 1385. The final and third phase requires a Gear Score of 1400. Be warned, however, that trying to beat Argos while just meeting the Gear Score requirement will be very difficult.

3. Can players see the health bar of the bosses?

The side bosses have visible health bars just like in Abyss Dungeons. However, the main boss’ health bar will be invisible, like in Guardian Raids.

4. How many times can a character collect rewards for clearing an Abyss Raid?

Similar to Abyss Dungeons, players can only collect rewards from it once per week.

5. What are the potential rewards for clearing an Abyss Raid?

Abyss Raids are so lucrative due to the materials players can acquire if they successfully clear it. For Argos, players receive a set of materials with higher stages offering more. The overall summary of the materials categorized from stage one to stage three are:

Argos’ Claw: 6/8/9

Argos’ Tooth: 16/21/23

Argos’ Blood: 0~1/1~2/2~3

Argos’ Tendon: 0~1/1~2/2~3

With these materials, players can craft powerful gear with a starting score of 1345. Each armor requires 16 Argos’ Teeth while the weapon needs 30 Argos’ Claws. The two other materials are used depending on the player’s choice between the two sets of gears that one can make with Argos’ materials. Each gear set has a set bonus at two and five.

The first set, which uses Argos’ Blood, is called Predestined Resolve. Here are the set effects for this gear set:

Two Set Effects:

  • Upon hitting an Abyss Raid boss, you gain the “Argos’ Strength” effect.
    • Argos Strength: Increase your damage output to enemies by 20% for the next 20 seconds (60 second cooldown).
  • While you are attacking enemies not related to the Argos Abyss Raid, gain a stack of the “Power of the Sun” every three seconds up to five times. The stacks expire after six seconds if the player stops attacking.
    • Power of the Sun: Increase your crit rate by 3%.

Five Set Effects:

  • Once you have five stacks of the “Power of the Sun,” the effect is replaced by the “Noon” effect. While you have this “Noon” effect, being within three meters of someone with the “Power of the Moon” activates the “Solar Eclipse” effect, which replaces the “Noon” effect.
    • Noon: Increase your crit rate by 25% for six seconds.
    • Solar Eclipse: Increase your crit rate by 25% and your crit damage by 40% for 12 seconds.

The second set, which uses Argos’ Tendon, is called Harsh Vow.

  • While you are attacking enemies not related to the Argos Abyss Raid, gain a stack of the “Power of the Moon” every three seconds up to five times. The stacks expire after six seconds if the player stops attacking.
    • Power of the Sun: Increase your crit damage by 6%.

Five Set Effects:

  • Once you have five stacks of the “Power of the Moon”, the effect is replaced by the “Full Moon” effect. While you have this “Full Moon” effect, being within three meters to someone with the “Power of the Sun” activates the “Solar Eclipse” effect, which replaces the “Noon” effect.
    • Noon: Increase your crit damage by 40% for six seconds.
    • Solar Eclipse: Increase your crit rate by 25% and your crit damage by 40% for twelve seconds.

As you can see, Abyss Raids are an essential challenge to overcome for players to acquire powerful gear that will allow them to enhance their characters to another level. Argos remains as the sole Abyss Raid boss in South Korea. However, this does not mean he will stay the sole boss in this game mode.
