Popular Twitch streamer and political commentator Hasan raised $100,000 for Ukraine relief in partnership with CARE in less than half an hour on Monday.
Hasan went live earlier today, discussing the political climate around Russia, Ukraine and the world. After five hours or so, he announced that he’d be working with CARE to raise money for Ukraine and added a counter to his stream to show how much his chat had raised.
Hasan had originally planned to have an unspecified donation goal for relief in Ukraine, but CARE set it to $100,000, which he reached in about 20 minutes. It has since climbed to $150,000 by the time of publishing.
When Hasan first told his stream about the goal, they immediately began donating before he had even given them the link, much less opened up Elden Ring. By the time he got the game open and was working on a tweet, he was almost halfway to the goal.
In addition to the donations made through CARE, Hasan is matching the first $25,000 and also donating $10 for every death he has in the game, which has already stacked up to over $25,000 at the time of publishing.
Outside of their partnership with Hasan, CARE is accepting donations for the Ukraine emergency, providing “immediate aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance” for families in the country and those fleeing.
CARE also links to stories about the crisis on their site and offers other ways to get involved. You can find Hasan’s stream here, where you can donate to Ukraine through his link, or you can donate directly through CARE here.
