The first weekend of the Call of Duty League Major IV qualifiers raged on today with the Toronto Ultra and London Royal Ravens squaring off against each other. This was London’s first match of the stage, and Toronto’s second after they defeated the LA Guerrillas yesterday. While the Ultra had some momentum on their side from that win, it was the Royal Ravens who came away with the victory.

The match was London’s first with Joey “Gismo” Owen back on the roster after he stepped away from the team for personal reasons during Stage III. It seemed as though Gismo was able to step right back into the swing of things, helping London win their first match of these qualifiers. However, it was Trei “Zer0” Morris who was mostly to thank for the Ravens’ victory.

Toronto goes down to the London Royal Ravens

The Ultra found themselves in the same spot they were in yesterday against LAG. They lost the first two maps by slim margins, losing Tuscan Hardpoint by just over 50 points and falling in the map two Search and Destroy in round 11. Zer0 was the hero on Tuscan Hardpoint, popping off 33 kills and finishing with a 2.20 KD. The Ravens secured the win with a monstrous hold on P5, not letting Toronto get anywhere near the hill. Meanwhile, on Search and Destroy, Gismo showed up in his first match back, securing an ace in round 11 to give London the win.

However, Toronto once again rebounded in the Control; just like yesterday against LAG. This time, it was Cameron “Cammy” McKilligan showing up for the Ultra, securing 36 kills and truly carrying the team in slaying. Cammy’s performance wasn’t enough to get the series to a map five, though, as Zer0 went off again in the Hardpoint to ensure London won the match. Zer0 ended the series with a 1.58 KD and 11,500 damage, while Gismo capped his first post-return match off with a 0.91 KD.

Toronto now sits at 1-1 in the Major IV qualifiers while the London Royal Ravens are undefeated at 1-0.
